Headstone Safety Inspections at St Martins Churchyard

St Martins Churchyard is a 'closed' churchyard and the Parish Council is responsible for maintaining it. As such, the Council has appointed a qualified firm of monumental masons to inspect all of the headstones in the churchyard and report back on any necessary work that needs to be carried out.

Members of the public are asked not to 'test' the headstones themselves. This could be very dangerous as some of the headstones are up to 1.8m (6 feet) tall and are very heavy.

The inspections will commence in early August and a report on any necessary work will be submitted to the Council as soon as possible after the inspections are completed.

If anyone has any queries regarding this work, please contact the Parish Office.
